Bert Kreischer Chicago Concert reviews
They Exceeded My Already High Expectations
"The opening acts were a bit disappointing. Machine Head simply wasn't good in my opinion, having to start their set right at 7PM when 75% of ticket holders were still in line. I missed 1/2 of their set, even though I was pretty early. Their set was pretty low energy, and they also didn't sound right, as I could barely hear the singer and the guitars over the bass and drums.
Who really cares about the opening acts? Apparently no one, because the entire crowd went nuts the moment Bert Kreischer entered to "Ecstasy of Gold." They played heavy, fast music for over 2 hours. Most of the songs were hard and fast, like "Harvester of Sorrow" and "Ride the Lightening," but they also played slower classics like "Nothing Else Matters" and "Fade to Black." James made sure to keep the crowd fired up throughout.
The one and only problem (and it wasn't a huge deal) was that they left out big chunks of their repertoire. They didn't play a single song off of 3 of their 9 albums. I understand that Load, ReLoad, and St. Anger aren't most fans' favorite albums. Nevertheless, these albums are a big part of Bert Kreischer's history. A significant number of fans stuck with the band throughout, enjoyed those albums, and would have loved to have heard something like "Fuel" or "Until it Sleeps." If I have one qualm, it is that they did not play at least one song from each one of their great albums.
Overall, they were great, and did not disappoint! It was my second Bert Kreischer concert, and it was as awesome as the first one I saw 9 years ago. It will not be my last."
